They say “…in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes,” but I think they forgot something.
Failure.
It’s also certain.
Which totally sucks.
However, we do have a choice in how we move forward from our failures. For example, when I totally FUBAR things, I recover by eating a pint of butter pecan ice cream and moping in bed reading fantasy novels for three days.
Kidding.
Mostly.
Actually, my preferred method of coming back after I totally screw up is to look for the opportunity.
I made a mistake, sure. I do that a lot. But I also try to figure out what didn’t work, and take that learning with me into the future.
I have a chance to grow and do better next time.
Sure, I could let failure consume me.
Or, I can pick myself up, learn what I can from it, and keep going.
It’s my choice, and so far, I keep choosing door number 2. And it’s working for me.
What are your thoughts?
How do you overcome failure?
