Accept Love: Take No Shit (Authenticity)

Accept Love: Take No Shit (Authenticity)

On March 8, Nookie presented the topic ‘Accept Love: Take No Shit’ for Dating Kinky. The original presentation was free to all who joined us live, and was recorded for Dating Kinky’s PLUS members to access through the Dating Kinky Library (over 400 videos and 550 hours of content!).

Here is a clip from that 90 minute show, where Nookie talks about authenticity.

Transcript:

Let’s talk about authenticity.

A good portion of being authentic, is knowing what your boundaries are, right? It’s knowing who you are as a person but it’s not just knowing your boundaries.

It’s knowing your priorities is being able to pause and say to yourself, “Is this working for me?”

I like to say that you should Marie Kondo the shit out of your life. “Does this spark joy?”

I mean your whole life.

Like seriously, does it spark joy?

There is going to be something that you can’t do anything about at least right now. Like your job. You probably can’t change that right this moment. If it doesn’t spark joy, you’re probably stuck with it
until you can find something better.

But here’s the thing:

Removing things from your life that aren’t joyful one at a time, makes room for things to come into your life that are joyful.

Now this is going to be a question.

Raise your hand, put up a heart, you know, whatever it is.

How many of you have spent time on people that didn’t spark the joy, didn’t give the love, didn’t offer the respect that you really deserve, and you realized, as you ended that relationship that you had put so much energy into that relationship that you didn’t have time to find anything better?

There was no room in your life for something better to come along.

Right, we’ve all done that.

We’ve done it in friendships.

We’ve done it in, you know, love relationships.

If we keep spending all of those dollars ee talked about earlier, all of those pennies on a machine that’s not giving us what we want.

We’re not going to have enough left to put into the machine that might give us the better prize.

Alex says, “I did.”

Tyra says, “Now,”

Lasha. Hey, hey, hey.

Lasha: Hey, girl, how you doin?

Nookie: I’m good. How you doing?

Lasha: See, I’m good.

You just really hit a nerve. I made all sorts of…what’s the word? I made all sorts of chances and so, so many openings for this person to catch up with me to where I was, after waiting for them for so long. And now, when things that should I should have waited for or I could wait for, I no longer had the time, the patience to wait for any more.

One hundred percent.

Absolutely. And good for you.
