Nothing is wrong with you.

Nothing is wrong with you.

Sure, I don’t know you, and therefore I don’t know if something IS wrong with you or not. Audrey probably didn’t know you, either.

So, that makes this meme, along with millions of others online, just as much of a meaningless sop as any other.

However, I think that this quote from Audrey Hepburn is worth discussing, because I believe that we all deserve a person in our lives who thinks nothing is WRONG with us.

We all, every one of us, have things we could do better at or improve.

All of us.

But are those things WRONG?

I don’t think there is anything wrong with my partner or anyone in my tribe, despite how they may make mistakes, or do things differently than I do.

And I would say they feel the same thing about me.

Because being in a relationship with someone and making them wrong seem like totally incompatible ideas to me.

A relationship is not a courtroom to me, where I act as judge and jury on my partners. It is not for me to decide whether there is anything right or wrong with them, but to accept them as they are and choose whether or not they are compatible with me and how I choose to live my life and love.

And when I do accept them, it’s not my place to tell them all the things that I don’t like about them or that are wrong, to manipulate them into becoming something or someone different.

It’s my place to tell them what I love about them, how I appreciate them, and to communicate when something is not working for me.

So, in this, Audrey and I have the same thoughts.

“You know what’s wrong with you? Nothing.”

Why Lying Is Submissive Behavior

Now, before you go all cray-cray on my ass, I am simply saying that lying is submissive behavior (versus dominant behavior), not that submissives lie.

An image of words: “Becoming aware of privilege should not be viewed as a burden or source of guilt, but rather, an opportunity to learn and be responsible so that we may work toward a more just and inclusive world.” One section urges those who are “white,” “male,” “Christian,” “cisgender,” “able-bodied,” and/or “heterosexual” to “check your privilege,” which it defines as “unearned access to social power based on membership in a dominant social group.”

Why I Am Kind To Idiots…
