How long has it been…?

How long has it been…?

When was the last time you put in effort to show someone you really love and appreciate them?

Like something above and beyond what you would normally do?

I don’t mean things like taking the trash out when that’s usually their chore, or gave them a BJ (even if you don’t do that often).

I mean something 100%, totally frivolous and loving specifically tailored to them.

A couple weeks ago, I woke up to find a note on my laptop:

“Good morning, My Queen…

I wanted to tell you that I appreciate & love you.

You are an amazing woman.

Thank you for rocking my world!”

I still have it next to my computer, where I see it all day, because it makes me feel loved every single time I look at it.

And as I’m typing this, I’m thinking when the last time I did something like that. It’s been a while.

I mean, I do little things a lot. Off the top of my head, over the past two weeks, I’ve:

  • Restocked the chocolate bars he likes to nibble for a sweet after dinner (and I’ll do that again today).
  • Made him a breakfast strata from some amazing focaccia that was getting stale (as opposed to yogurt and granola, hard boiled eggs, or oatmeal, which is what he usually has).
  • Told him I love him every day.
  • Cheered him on while he played with others.

There’s more.

I do try to show my love every day in multiple ways.

But I don’t remember when I did something different. That stands out and gives him something to remember.

And to me, those things matter, too.

Daily life SHOULD be amazing and wonderful.

And in my world, adding that little extra effort to show someone you really love and appreciate them matters.
I’m going to think about what I can do. smiles

What are your thoughts?

Do you value the extra effort?

When was the last time you put in that extra effort? What did you do?

Or, when was the last time someone did that for you? What did they do? How does it make you feel to remember that?
