Dating Tip: Fake Numbers

Dating Tip: Fake Numbers

I found a post online that was circling certain groups that said:

“Tip: If you think somebody is giving you a fake number, read it back to them incorrectly. See if they correct you.”

I don’t get it.

If you think someone is giving you the wrong number, LET THEM.

It means they don’t want you to have their number.

And while that might smart, it’s pretty clear, if maybe not how you would handle things.

But here’s the thing: consent doesn’t have to be denied by filling out a 2-3 page form in triplicate.

And it doesn’t have to be a “no.”

Because, really, you don’t know their situation.

And it doesn’t matter.

Because they’re not explaining it to you.

Which is their right.

And if you do discover they gave you the wrong number, great! You now know that you don’t have to waste your time and energy pursuing that possibility, and you can focus elsewhere.

Because you don’t really want someone who doesn’t want you JUST AS MUCH, right?

Right?!?
